Chanel Film Preview: Cara Delevigne & Pharrell Williams

Cara Delevingne and Pharrell

by Karl Lagerfeld

Pharell Williams and Cara Delevigne charm with their looks and singing for Karl Lagerfeld’s latest short film. Next week, Lagerfeld will be presenting Chanel’s latest Métiers d’art collection in Salzburg with this accompanying film where Cara reenacts a real episode of Gabrielle Chanel’s life. In the film, “Reincarnation,” Chanel falls in love with the jacket worn by the  hotel’s elevator operator during a vacation in an Australian resort in 1954. That style would later become the iconic Chanel jacket, with contrasting trim and pockets.  Original song by Pharrell Williams, “CC the World” joined by Cara in vocals, there’s much to be excited about, but here’s a little teaser to get us all going.  “It’s a modern way to communicate,” Lagerfeld shrugged. “I like to do very short movies. I have no time and no patience to do a feature film. After two days, I want to do something else.” WWD

Kendall Jenner: Estee Lauder’s New Fresh Face

If you’ve walked past any magazine covers recently, ranging from Vogue to Glamour, you’ve without a doubt seen the youthful, radiant face of 19 year old Kendall Jenner.  She has dominated the catwalks of various fashion power-houses, such as Marc Jacobs and Valentino.  The young supermodel was even cast in an iconic Givenchy ad, featuring other models who have been in the high-fashion scene for years now and Riccardo Tisci himself. You can’t help but agree with the request of Karl Lagerfeld to have the long-legged brunette walk in Chanel’s Fall 2014 show.  Out of all of these recent “wow” moments for Kendall, she proclaims that landing the role as Estee Lauder’s newest icon is definitely at the top of her list.  The second youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner empire worries that her claim-to-fame will always be her last name, and is quick to explain how hard work is the main contribute to her success. In an interview with Estee Lauder, she explains she has “grown up” with the company; she clearly remembers the past gold, mirrored lipstick containers, due to mom Kris Jenner’s obsession.  Sales for the makeup company are expected to rise immensely, as future campaigns featuring Kendall will capture younger audiences.  Including all past success, we couldn’t be happier for the gorgeous teen!

Sexiest Man Alive: Chris Hemsworth on People magazine

People magazine announced last friday this year’s sexiest man alive, Chris Hemsworth. Following the steps of previous winners, Adam Levine, George Clooney and Sean Connery, the 31 year-old Australian actor best known for his role as Thor, found the decision to be “pretty funny.” But during the announcement made by Jimmy Kimmel on his live show, he said he had to thank his parents “for putting this together,” and he sure does. His next role will be in Ron Howard’s adaptation of Moby Dick, and we’re pretty excited to watch Mr Hemsworth let his shirt off while at sea.

Girl Power: CoverGirl Ad Empowers Women

In today’s society, we often hear the phrase “like a girl” attached to a verb…. but what does that really mean? Is doing something “like a girl” a negative way to do it? The answer is absolutely not! A few of our favorite female celebrities have teamed up with CoverGirl to send out a message worth hearing to women and girls of all ages.  These glamorous gals explain how they were told they couldn’t do what they truly wanted to do, but proved all doubts wrong.  Each woman is identified in her signature look. For example, we see Janelle Monae in her classic, tuxedo inspired ensemble with her “snood-like” up-do, and Ellen DeGeneres in her simple, chic pants-suit.  This is a powerful ad featuring women of all different backgrounds and careers who have turned CAN’T into CAN.  Girls can play ice hockey, own business, run the show, rap, dance crazy, be strong, be funny and rock… just to name a few!  When girls stay true to their passion and break down barriers, they make this world a little more “easy, breezy and beautiful.”  Go show the world what you’re made of!
