Meryl Streep’s Daughters for & Other Stories

Merryl Streep can’t seem to do anything wrong, not even her already independent daughters. The normcore label & Other Stories, owned by H&M, casted the three sisters: Grace, Louisa and Mamie Gummer, for its newest campaign shot by Stephen Shore. The two older daughters are alreay following their mother’s steps, and have appeared in a couple of movies and TV shows; the youngest is pursuing a very prolific modelling career signed by IMG. The campaign shows the second collaboration of the brand with accessories designer Clare Vivier, friend of the sisters.    The line consists of bags, totes, loafers and other accessories with varied colors and will be available in & Other Stories’ stores March 5.

Knee-High Boots: London Fashion Week

After New York Fashion Week has come and gone, a new season for London has started. We’re still seeing some of the same trends: 70′s style, a lot of fringe, wallpaper prints, furs in every (im)possible color, flare pants, and The Knee-High Boot. This time tho, they come in stretchy leather, hugging the skin, and making a statement with color or texture.  Anna Sui is bringing light printed dresses with lace-up boots; Marios Schwab is mixing cocktail dresses and gowns with the knee-high; Topshop Unique made 70′s spy sexy again with a chunky heel; and Jonathan Saunders mixed colourful prints with even more colourful skin tight boots. Are your boots too damaged from the snow after seeing this?… I thought so.

Fringe: We Can’t Get Enough

We recently posted about the return of fringe in the fashion scene, but NYFW and recent celeb style has only proved our point.  With fringe becoming more and more popular, both to the high fashion followers and to the mainstream shoppers, it is going to be hard not to join the “fringe club!”  Our own Barbara Glass even states that she might break down and own something fringe for this new spring season!  Whether you prefer a dress, skirt, handbag or shoes, here are some great ways to incorporate the hottest detail into your wardrobe.  Think spring, think fringe!

NY Fashion Week Favourite Looks

New York fashion week has brought us some very interesting shows this year. Trends are clear: 70′s vibe with flare pants, lots of denim and big belts; Florals are back, but not without a twist; there are furs in exciting colors and tall leather boots. Tommy Hilfiger brought the Super Bowl back with a football field of a runway; Cynthia Rowley showd us our dream girls (literally coming out of a dream); and Thom Browne showed mourning widows and hospital beds, making for the creepiest and coolest show of the season.  Just as exciting are the street stylers, but right now, lets take a look at some of our favourite looks straight from the runways.

Vogue Cover: BFFs Karlie Kloss & Taylor Swift

Blonde besties Karlie Kloss and Taylor Swift team up for the latest issue of Vogue to be on newsstands tomorrow, February 18.  Sporting floral skirts and crop tops, the two pose for the ideal best friend photoshoot and even take a few of their own “selfies.”  The shoot takes place in a bohemian, 70′s glam setting.  Supermodel Karlie Kloss explains that her and singer Taylor Swift have gotten so close that even their taste and style in clothing has synced together.  We can imagine how great it is to have such a close friend in the industries they are in.  Our own Barbara Glass just returned from Palm Springs, where she found a good friend from earlier in life; they were in Brownies and Girl Scouts together.  Friendship is truly something to cherish forever…. and who wouldn’t love to cover the pages of Vogue with their favorite girl?!

Ballet and Fashion: Dancing Into the New Trend.

During the last few weeks I have been surrounded by a desire to dance, and not at a club, or the gym. Ballet dancers have been shown in a new light lately and the fashion world is taking notice. If you happened to see the Grammy’s last week, you were probably more excited by Sia’s performance of Chandelier featuring the 12 year old amazing Maddie Ziegler than by Kanye’s interruption. This girl (from Dance Moms) was taken under Sia’s wing and has appeeared in two of her videos, aside from performing the songs live for Jimmy Kimmel, Ellen, and more. Last year, Sarah Jessica Parker decided to make a coollaboration between the NYCB and some of the biggest design houses. Mary Katrantzou, Alexander McQueen, Carolina Herrera and Thom Browne custom made the ensambles for the dancers performing at the NYC Ballet Fall gala. Finally, a video now raiding the internet of ballet dancer Sergei Polunin performing “Take Me to Church” song by Hozier, directed by David LaChapelle is a dream of excitement and beauty. All this craze has obvious reactions in the fashion business, you can get all sorts of ballet full-midi skirts at ASOS, Topshop or any other fashion-forward store. Even Penhaligon’s has partnered with the English National Ballet to “bottle the scent of ballet” with Iris Prima (£120, penhaligons.com ). So any way so wanna take it, my career goals might’ve just shifted to (wanna-be) professional ballet dancer. I’ll keep you posted.
