Fashionable Selby

Looking at several fashion portraits as of late, I noticed that many fashionistas are posing next to a pile of books. The interesting part however, is that in this pile, it is now common to see “Fashionable Selby” – the latest installment from photographer Todd Selby. Todd traveled the world, as he was invited into the private workshops and offices of the biggest names in fashion. The book is filled with beautiful pictures, showing you renowned faces and some newcomers that are sure to shake up the industry. A must-read for lovers of all things creative.

Simple & elegant; The Royal Tour in New Zealand.

Princess Kate looked stunning during her recent visit to New Zealand. My favorite looks are composed of a “perfect black-shoe” with a little twist because she took a simple navy shoe and gave it the title of the “new black”, while showing that simple accessories are always best when left at minimum, which in her style it included her beautiful earrings and her gorgeous wedding ring,  she has also shown that sometimes sporting a pony-tail is the “go-to” hairstyle, for a clean look.

Man-Up Monday: Loungewear and GQ

Human beings are funny creatures; am I right? We take active wear to the couch and loungewear to the critics… And we all know that both of those categories have intertwined over the years. Oh, well! I can adapt… No, even better! I appreciate the irony. So, who has Man-Up Monday geared its focus on? It’s none other than the lovely GQ, gents! According to GQ’s creative director, Jim Moore, the type of sweatpants taking over this spring, “come fitted, taper at the ankle, and include elevated details…” (Moore). I’m all for it! I want to see our men walking around, not with the played-out college sweats, but with something that has a little more… Umph!

Here are a few fabulous options for those looking around:

What did you say, Zara? Comfy cotton trousers? … Take my money.

You too, Club Monaco? Okay, if you insist!

Wait, Zara! You already took my money once… Denim detailing, you say? Alright, alright.

Jennifer Aniston: Haircut

They say every trend always comes full circle, and hair styles are no exception! The bob is back, and better than ever! What used to be a popular style in the 20′s is now taking over Hollywood, and we are loving the results! Jennifer Aniston has been a hair idol in Hollywood since the debut of the “Rachel” cut in the late 90′s, but now she is making headlines again by adopting the newest long bob trend. The star has had long hair for quite some time and said she was due for a change. I happen to love the “new do”, I think it suits her style perfectly! Then again Jennifer Aniston could rock any hair style and still look gorgeous. Check out the before and after pictures below.

With so many up and coming starlets in Hollywood, its no wonder that Marie Claire magazine couldn’t choose just one cover girl  for their May issue! With a line up like that, it will be hard for other magazines to compete!  Some of the girls even have a video to go along with their bios! To read the whole story, go to MarieClaire.com.

Designers: Andrea Doria FW14 Lookbook

We fashion connoisseurs love hearing about new and upcoming designers. We’ve come across an inspirational one this week! Andrea Doria Cohn was born in California, but made her way to New York to start her business in 2012. This designer’s biography describes her personal line as being, “Dark and light, female and male, fantasy and grit. ANDREA DORIA resides where the seemingly opposite meet.” She truly follows through with it! Here are some of our favorite looks:

Split Personalities

We have heard of color blocking and we have heard to “mixed media” clothing, but this new trend has the whole fashion world buzzing! It’s what WWD has dubbed  as the “split personality” trend! It’s one garment that has two totally different looks to it. Some designers took this to the extreme and did dresses with two different hemlines, and made the most uncoupled patterns work, while others just stepped it up a notch with the color blocking trend. See how these designers created the look!

Gap Chic

Harper’s Bazaar posted a charming little blurb covering supermodels that rock a gap-tooth smile. In an industry where imperfections don’t make the cut, it’s nice to see women showing a more natural side. Kudos!
