The strappy sandal was all over the Cannes and Billboard Music Awards red carpet, confirming that this shoe is officially in season! Strappy sandals are great in the summer because of the chic ease that they can give to an outfit. Whether you dress them up with a couture designer gown, like celebs on the red carpet, or if you wear them for your family’s summer cookouts, these sandals will never let you down. Most strappy sandals allow your foot to breathe, so you do have to worry about your foot getting hot in the name of fashion, the only thing you have to worry about it what to pair them with! Even the answer to that is simple, for more of casual look, wear them with a pair of denim or khaki shorts with a bright colored blouse, or pull out your favorite sun dress and trade your signature flat sandal with a strappy heeled sandal, or these heels, in a metallic color, even look great paired with a little black dress for date night!

In 1946 the Cannes International Film Festival also known to the French as Le Festival International du Film de Cannes or just Festival de Cannes, was founded and since then, it has become an annual film festival held in Cannes, France, which previews new films of all genres, including documentaries, from around the world. It is one of the most prestigious and publicized film festivals in the world. The invitation-only festival is held at the Palais des Festivals et des Congres in May. This year the festival is being hosted from May 15 to May 26, and there are tons of stars wearing great fashionable outfits.

This past week has been buzzing with music related news from Beyonce’s alleged “pregnancy” to last night’s Billboard Music Awards. But, let’s focus on my favorite Chicago native, Kanye West. A few days ago Kanye debuted his new video entitled “New Slaves” in 66 locations across the world. The video premiered in Millennium Park on the 17th sometime in the evening. Taylor Swift on the blue carpet at the MGM Grand Garden Arena for the 2013 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas. She wore a blue sequined Zuhair Murad dress from the Pre-Fall 2013 Collection. Swift won eight of 11 awards, including top artist and top Billboard 200 album for “Red.” She told the crowd: “You are the longest and best relationship I ever had.”

Miley Cyrus opted for more of an edgy look rather than a sexy one, shes wore a black and white embroidered Balmain Jumpsuit from the Spring 2013 Collection. It featured zippers at the ankles and a longer zipper which ran all the way down her back.

Selena Gomez wore a Atelier Versace Gown from the Spring 2013 Collection. The dress had awesome edgy neon piping and a nice split that revealed the stars metallic Jimmy Choo sandals.

Kelly Rowland wore a silver Rami Al Ali Couture Gown with a front split, from the Spring 2013 Collection.

Jennifer Lopez stunned once again on the blue carpet in a golden sheer leaf Zuhair Murad dress from the Spring 2013 Collection.

To kick off the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, the stars of The Great Gatsby showed everyone how it was done! Stealing the show, and setting the bar pretty high for the rest of the festival. While Leo and Tobey both looked amazing Carey stood out in her Dior Haute Couture dress. White not only suited her, it seemed to be a trending color throughout the red carpet.

Emma Watson looked stunning in this Chanel color blocking dress. She was at Cannes to promote her new film The Bling Ring.

Timberlake and Bogart celebrated at one of the Cannes after parties. They also took some time to promote their new film written and produced by Bogart about his father.

This spring has been warming up and shorter skirts have been making their big entrance on the streets.  There are a couple different types that have been popular this spring.

A floral skirt is a very classic spring design. But the great thing about floral is that it can come in just as many colors as flowers come in, which is about every color, so there’s something out there for everyone.

This beige circle skirt os a great basic piece for your closet that will go with about any color from your spring wardrobe. Neutrals are always useful and can be incorporated into outfits with ease.

Having a bright color like this skirt is great for spring. This spring is all about bright and eye-catching colors and a lot of contrast. The shine of this fabric in this skirt also adds a lot to this outfit.
