Girl Power: Glamour’s Women of the Year

Last Monday, the awards for Women of the Year were hosted by Glamour Magazine in New York at Carnegie Hall and it was all about girl power. Laverne Cox (Orange is the New Black) was the first transgender to be nominated for an Emmy Award and “the face of one of the biggest equality stories of 2014,” as Glamour called her, honouring her with The Advocate Award.  Lupita Nyongo (Twelve Years a Slave)  looked beautiful as always in  Chanel Couture, accepting her Breakthrough Award saying with tears, ”The truth is, I don’t really know what’s next, though what has happened to me so far is incredible, I am still a work in progress and I hope to always be.” Sarah Burton was awarded Visionary of the Year, after taking over Alexander McQueen legacy and boosting again the British fashion industry. One of the funniest girls in the business, Mindy Kaling received the Lady Boss Award, Samantha Power got the Ambassador Award  and Chelsea Clinton Women’s Champion.
