Vivienne Westwood and the Vienna State Ballet

Its not often that you see ballerinas dancing around in plaid leotards and tutus, but when Vivienne Westwood is involved you better bet there will be some kind of “punk” inspired attire!  The Vienna State Ballet dancers were all decked out in tartan kilts and plaid leg warmers for their  New Year’s performance. The ballet broadcasted in more than 80 countries and was sure to leave an impact! Some of the costumes were even inspired by Westwood’s spring collection out later this year, incorporating some jewel and gold tones into the costume set.  Though the designer wanted to keep true to her design style, she still took into consideration who she was designing for, all the outfits are easy to move in and most are still made from taffeta.
