Hubbard Street Dance Chicago: One Thousand Pieces

To commemorate Hubbard Street Dance’s legacy of being the best contemporary dance company in Chicago, in house choreographer Alejandro Cerrudo created One Thousand Pieces, the company’s first full length work by one choreography with a single theme. The project involves the entire company, including the dancers of Hubbard Street 2 and music by Philip Glass. Cerrudo was inspired by artist Marc Chagall’s America Windows stained glass piece at the Art Institute of Chicago. Similarly, like Chagall dedicated his work to former Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley, Cerrudo is dedicating his to Mayor Rahm Emanuel for helping to make Chicago a destination for dance world wide.
