Azzedine Alaia is a Tunisian-born couturier and shoe designer, who became popular in the 1980’s. His designs have been worn by many celebs including Tina Turner, Naomi Campbell, Madonna, and Rhianna. He came from small beginnings and was strongly influenced by his glamorous sister, and his mother’s friend who would sneak him Vogue magazines every month, but now, after years of designing he is being honored with a retrospective opening in Paris at the Palais Galliera. Rhianna’s Grammy dress (pictured below) will be one of the many pieces that will be displayed in the exhibit. The exhibit will run from now, through January 25th, 2014. Alaia’s life and great creative abilities have caught the eye of Bruce Weber who is now working on Alaia’s documentary. It will be interesting to see not only the documentary, but the exhibit as well! What a great honor for such a great designer!
