Mulberry Takes on Fantasy for Fall 2012
Recalling my experience in a Visual Merchandising class, the question in the midst of creativity was always fantasy or reality? Does today’s struggling economy need to become more focused, and hence be exposed to realistic ads, or should they find escapism through more fantastical methods? Fashion brand Mulberry chose the latter and broke the mold for their Fall 2012 ad campaign by featuring large furry monsters beside their fairy-like model. Art director, Ronnie Cooke Newhouse, described the campaign as, “an interpretation of dreams and fears”, which is fitting for a struggling, yet hopeful society.
