Barbara Glass and Cynthia Rowley Know ‘The Walk’

Last night we were delighted to attend The Walk, The School of the Art Institutes charity gala, that was held in a beautiful tent in Millennium Park. Of course the evenings guests of honor were Cynthia Rowley and her husband Bill Powers, who were honored with the SAIC Legend of Fashion Award. Cynthia was a graduating senior at SAIC and I was on a panel of judges that awarded her the scholarship that helped her make her big move to NYC to start her career. I’m just happy to know that I had some influence in making sure that this talented designer was able to follow her dreams. In her speech last night she said that the money helped her to move to NYC and helped launch her career. Now with over 70 Cynthia Rowley boutiques we are glad that we believed in her. Even with all the fame and success, she is still that down-to-earth sweet Midwestern girl, but a lot more sophisticated and a hell of a lot more savy. Her husband Bill Powers is the art component that adds to Cynthia’s designs. They were extremely generous to pass on the favor, giving out the same scholarship she recieved back in the 80s to another deserving student!
It was great fun to cross paths again.
XO
Barbara
