Recently during Paris Fashion Week, rapper Kanye West debuted his first designer collection. Truthfully it wasn’t a hit or a miss, but a little in between. The clothes were made of expensive fabrics, but were poorly tailored. They seemed baggy on the models. The collection also seemed more fall/winter 2012, instead of Spring/Summer. It was thick with furs and leather, things you would typically see during a fall collection. Former French Vogue editor, Carine Roitfeld, said that the whole thing wasn’t bad for his first try. “I’m sure he knows what he did wrong and what he did right,” she said. “He tried hard, and he wants to learn.”
Hopefully Kanye does learn from this experience. I’m sure his next collection will be even better and a show worth watching.
