What Should I Wear to…?: Dressing for a Baseball Game
With the Cubs/White Sox series coming up, I’m sure a lot of you will find yourself at a game this week. Being fashionable and being at a baseball game have long been mutually exclusive, especially if the team’s colors are unflattering (sorry Giants fans!). So what’s a fashion-forward fan-girl to wear this summer to a baseball game?
Pink by Victoria’s Secret has recently launched their Major League Baseball Collection. They offer cute tees, shorts, sweats, and even undies, all in your favorite team’s colors, and they are tailored for women.
Or try color-blocking with your favorite team’s colors. If you are a Cubs fan, pairing a flowy red tank with blue shorts or a skirt makes for a great look without going over the top. And if you are a White Sox fan like I am, then consider yourself lucky, because black is universally flattering and goes with almost everything.
If you are like me, and your head has rejected outright the notion of looking cute in a baseball cap, then a fedora or panama hat is the way to go. It’s light, it covers your face from the sun, it looks good with everything, and it’s a fun alternative to the traditional baseball cap.
Remember that navigating the way through bleachers is difficult enough. Compound that with having to slosh through spilt beer, wet hot dog buns, and peanut shells, and it becomes clear that the heels, espadrilles, or wedges should probably stay at home. Flip-flops are a practical alternative. Or try Toms. These cute canvas shoes are lightweight, colorful, and, above all, washable.
So with a little foresight, you can be practical and look fashionable at a baseball game, no matter your favorite team, and how horrendous their team colors. Play ball, ladies!
