Chicago Mayor Richard Daley announced he will not run for re-election in 2011, saying it’s “time for me, it’s time for Chicago to move on.” His wife Maggie stood by his side, smiling broadly as the mayor spoke about always trying to work hard, and do what’s right to improve Chicago, and he has loved every minute of it. While everything our Mayor has worked to accomplish for the city he loves, some things were not perfect like the Tearing Down of Meigs Field in the Middle of the Night while we slept, and the attempt to get the Olympics in Chicago. But certainly his accomplishments far exceeded the failures and were far more memorable in helping to build Chicago into a world class city celebrated around the world. Yes, I’m talking about Millennium Park, the beautiful gardens and of course our Mayor’s launch to change the education system, and his efforts in making the city realize fashion counts. He will indeed be missed and we wish him and the entire Daley family our best wishes.
