“Perfect is Perfectly Boring”

Once again I want to address that I’d like to see everyone take on the attitude that there are women of all different shapes and sizes as ‘the beauty ideal,’ and that it’s not one type or another. But let’s face it neither size zero nor plus-size models fit in with this ideal, and thus they both get bashed. We imagine that one has never seen a burger in her life, while the other has never turned down one in her life. As an example, take a look above at the Carl’s Jr. ad featuring Audrina Patridge chowing down on a burger. I love this ad because it represents a beautiful, healthy, and fit women, yet it’s open and honest so people can relate to her. It’s “real.” The media has done its best to pit plus-size women against thin ones but perhaps the answer is, more ads like the one above, which represents a woman with a healthy mind and body. Just real life and real bodies. Our culture is programmed to perfection and reacts against anything that doesn’t fit into that perfect little box? I’m hopeful that the definition of perfection will continue to change in this age, and more people will embrace my coined phrase that “Perfect is Perfectly Boring.”
